Job Summary:

The Maintenance Manager is responsible for overseeing the Maintenance & Engineering department to ensure the optimal functioning of all facilities and systems. This role ensures compliance with safety and fire regulations, promotes a safe and cost-effective environment, and maintains operational efficiency across all departments, including Slaughterhouse, Meat Processing, Refrigeration, Rendering, and Water Treatment.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Department Management:
    • Lead the Technical Department, comprising technical specialists and support staff, to implement and achieve the company’s technical objectives across multiple operations, including Slaughterhouse, Meat Processing, Refrigeration, Rendering, and Water Treatment.
    • Coordinate, organize, and execute technical operations efficiently, ensuring that all activities align with the company’s financial and operational goals.
  • Task Prioritization & Budget Management:
    • Prioritize technical tasks and budget allocation for the Maintenance department, ensuring effective resource utilization.
    • Assign tasks to technical specialists and ensure the smooth operation of all relevant departments, minimizing downtime and maintaining production efficiency.
  • Facilities & Equipment Maintenance:
    • Conduct regular inspections of production facilities, equipment, and production sites, identifying potential issues and implementing solutions to maintain operational standards.
    • Ensure that all equipment and production lines meet the company’s minimum operational standards to reduce downtime and operational disruptions.
  • Project Planning & Budgeting:
    • Advise management on capital and expense-related projects, proposing cost-effective and innovative solutions to optimize production and reduce costs.
    • Lead the planning, budgeting, design, and execution of projects related to the improvement or expansion of poultry operations.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
    • Regularly meet with department managers to discuss technical and production-related challenges, ensuring the necessary preventive maintenance, repairs, or operational changes are addressed.
    • Collect written reports from department managers on production details following each meeting for further action.
  • Reliability & Compliance:
    • Develop and enforce strategies to enhance operational reliability while ensuring adherence to company policies related to technical operations, hygiene standards, and bio-security procedures.
    • Manage and control the workshop to ensure compliance with safety regulations, including fire precautions, waste disposal, and environmental protection.
  • Maintenance Program Development:
    • Oversee the development and implementation of equipment repair, service, and preventive maintenance programs in accordance with supplier guidelines.
    • Maintain comprehensive records related to technical management and ensure proper documentation for all maintenance-related activities.
  • Training & Development:
    • Organize and execute regular training sessions for the technical team, ensuring they are up-to-date with the latest industry practices and advancements in poultry technology, machinery, and equipment.
  • Supplier Management:
    • Analyze and select suppliers based on quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery, ensuring the procurement of spare parts and other materials to prevent production downtime.
    • Monitor warranty conditions for equipment and ensure timely claims for repair and replacement within the warranty period.
    • Establish strong working relationships with suppliers through formal meetings and site visits to foster effective collaboration.
  • Team Management & Performance:
    • Manage and supervise the Maintenance team on a daily basis, ensuring optimal task deployment, employee motivation, and performance evaluation.
    • Foster a culture of skill improvement, engagement, and grievance resolution to enhance team productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Cost Reduction & Sustainability:
    • Recommend methods to reduce utility costs (electricity, water, wastewater) and explore opportunities for implementing renewable energy solutions (solar, wind, etc.).
    • Advise on energy-efficient technologies and best practices to further reduce operational costs.
  • Emergency Preparedness & Safety:
    • Ensure the company’s procedures for handling accidents, fires, and emergencies are strictly followed.
    • Regularly verify that technical emergency equipment is available and in good working condition.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in the poultry industry.
    • At least 10 years of experience in FMCG sectors, including factory maintenance management.
    • At least 5 years in a management-level role, overseeing technical operations and maintenance.
  • Languages: Proficiency in both English and Arabic.
